Kent joined NCI in 2016, bringing extensive experience and a diverse skillset to his job as Project Engineer. His training began at Baskervill & Son Architects in 1965 as an architectural draftsman. The following year, Kent joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served as combat engineer and team leader in the Third Marine Division in Viet Nam. After his service overseas, Kent returned to Baskervill where he continued to develop his technical skills and knowledge of contract drawings for all construction trades. He eventually was promoted to Project Architect and Associate, responsible for project coordination and construction administration. From 1993 to 2006, Kent served in various construction management roles for Virginia Commonwealth University, culminating as Building Manager for VCU Health System’s Virginia Treatment Center for Children. Prior to joining NCI, Kent served 10 years as Director of Construction Management for William H. Harris Architecture (now Ionic Design Studios). He continues to be an associate member of the American Institute of Architects. Kent has two daughters and one grandchild. With a passion for community outreach, Kent often volunteers his time to help Richmond’s homeless have a second chance at rebuilding a life with purpose and promise.
